Pom line information 2010 – 2011
Are you interested in being in a pom line? Here is some information to help you decide if competition pom line is right for you.
Please speak with your child’s instructor if you are interested. There is limited space in these groups. Auditions for the pom lines for those entering 2nd through 8th grade are August 16th – 25th. We also are offering a pom preview class July 19th – August 2nd for anyone who is interested in a pom line but would like to try it first. In addition to the pom class dancers must also be registered in the fall for a combination (tap/jazz) class appropriate for their age and level. Tuition for the pom class and the combination class is $110 per month for Gems and $105 per month for Glitters and Jewels. This tuition amount also includes costs for their additional competition pom costume, pom pons and competition fees. Separate competition shoes for pom line dancers will most likely need to be purchased separately.
Pom lines compete at three regional competitions each year. These competitions are held in the spring between March and May and are located in St. Paul or Minneapolis. The pom lines sometimes have an option to attend a national competition in the summer if there is national competition in or near the Twin Cities. Competition fees and rehearsals for nationals would be a separate charge.
The pom lines also perform in many of the WDC spring recitals.
Fundraising opportunities are available to those who choose to participate including selling wreaths, working at the Xcel and doing concessions at our recitals. Membership in the Youth Dance Parent Association is required for many of the fundraising opportunities.
